Established by Tung Wah Group of Hospitals (“TWGHs”) in 2010, Tung Wah College (TWC) is a self-financing degree-granting institution registered under the Post Secondary Colleges Ordinance (Cap.320).  Following the educational ideals of TWGHs and leveraging on its renowned strengths and expertise, TWC aims to provide high quality tertiary education to nurture competent, socially responsible and caring professionals for the benefits of society.

With the staunch support of TWGHs, TWC has been developing rapidly and built up a niche in healthcare education. It is the first self-financing tertiary institution offering five professionally accredited degrees to train nurses and allied health professionals such as medical laboratory technologists, occupational therapists and radiation therapists. Besides, the College is also the first institution registered under Cap. 320 offering early childhood education degree and higher diploma programmes to train qualified kindergarten teachers and childcare professionals.

Currently, TWC has 4 schools (namely School of Arts and Humanities, School of Management, School of Medical and Health Sciences, and School of Nursing) running a total of 19 degree, sub-degree and diploma programmes in several disciplines.  It has a student population of over 4,000 in 2024/2025.

Being a young and vibrant institution, TWC aspires to become a leading private university in the long term.  It is planning to launch a number of new programmes, strengthen teaching and learning facilities and quality, and enhance research capability etc. in coming years.  To cope with its continuous development, we are now inviting highly qualified candidates to fill the following post:

Duties and Responsibilities

 The appointee will be required but not limited to:

  1. be responsible for the system design and development for new systems / enhancement of existing systems for the College;
  2. integrate existing systems with external cloud platforms for the higher education sector;
  3. support the development and enhancement of the Student Information System (SIS), ensuring its alignment with academic and administrative needs;
  4. gather user requirements and support implementation activities such as System Integration Testing (SIT), User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and user training;
  5. provide on-going application production support services;
  6. prepare technical documentation, test plans and user manuals for applications;
  7. perform data related tasks such as developing data interfaces, conducting data analysis, and generating reports for various units and management; and
  8. undertake any other duties as assigned by the Head or his delegates.

Qualifications and Experience Required

Applicants should:

  1. possess a recognized Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related disciplines;
  2. have at least 4 years of relevant working experience, preferably in a higher education environment;
  3. be proficient in at least TWO of the following languages: PHP, Flask, .NET, Python, JavaScript for developing backend and web-based applications;
  4. have sound knowledge of writing complex SQL queries, performing query optimization, building custom functions and stored procedures in MySQL and MSSQL;
  5. have hands-on experiences in Microsoft Windows Server / Linux system;
  6. preferably have experience in MVC framework and RESTful APIs;
  7. have strong analytical and troubleshooting skills;
  8. have good interpersonal and communication skills;
  9. have strong sense of responsibility and be able to work independently as well as collaboratively with the team; and
  10. be familiar with DevOps tools such as version control systems, container technologies, build tools and deployment pipelines;
  11. have a solid understanding of software security principles and best practices, including secure coding, data protection, and vulnerability mitigation; and
  12. development experience with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure will be an advantage.
